Duke’s Mike Krzyzewski, Paolo Banchero preview Elite Eight showdown vs. Arkansas

Duke is on the doorstep of advancing to the NCAA Tournament’s Final Four in Mike Krzyzewski’s last season. Duke eviscerated Texas Tech’s top-rated offense in the second half to the tune of 1.53 points per possession in Thursday’s 78-73 win in the Sweet 16. Arkansas stands in Duke’s way. Krzyzewski was joined by Duke stars Wendell Moore Jr. and Paolo Banchero to preview Saturday’s Elite Eight clash.

The Duke offense was the big story against Texas Tech, but a key defensive move helped Duke a ton, too. Krzyzewski and the Duke players agreed to switch to a zone defense, which helped slow down Texas Tech’s humming offense.

“I mean, really it was just a talk,” Moore said. “It was just a normal huddle for us. All five guys knew we needed to stop. The zone has been going great for us, but we just figured they got a couple of buckets late, and we wanted to finish the game with our defense . All year we’ve hung our hat on our man-to-man defense. We knew we needed a stop. All five guys really just came together, and Coach trusted us. He trusted us enough to allow us to be able to do what we wanted to do. I mean, it paid off.”
