Eliot Cutler faces 4 counts of possession of unlawful sexually explicit material

Former Maine gubernatorial candidate Eliot Cutler was released on bail Saturday morning. He had been held on $50,000 bail.He was arrested on four counts of possession of unlawful sexually explicit material of a minor.The Hancock County district attorney says the people in that material are under the age of 12.The arrest follows a two-month investigation. Earlier this week state police searched two homes belonging to Cutler in Portland and in Brooklin but never said what they were looking for. The Maine State Police said Cutler was arrested at his Brooklin residence. After his arrest, he was taken to the Hancock County Jail. Cutler, 75, was an attorney and former advisor to President Jimmy Carter and Sen. Ed Muskie. Cutler ran twice as an independent for Maine’s governor in 2010 and 2014.
