K9 used to apprehend 28-year-old murder suspect

The Des Moines Police Department have made an arrest in connection with a deadly shooting along Hickman Road that took place Sunday night.Tyrone Scott Cameron, 28, is charged with first-degree murder and attempted murder.Cameron attempted to evade officers on Friday. Police said he jumped from a residential rooftop. And as Cameron continued his attempt to flee, a police K9 was used to apprehend him.Cameron was taken into custody at about 8:53 am in the 4900 block of Urbandale Avenue. He was treated at a local hospital for minor injuries and released into police custody. At the time of his arrest, Cameron was found to be violating a valid no-contact order, and had active, unrelated, arrest warrants. Jeffrey Dwayne Gillom, 59, of Des Moines, was killed in the shooting. A female victim was also seriously injured. Cameron has been booked into the Polk County Jail. Related:
